Kunsang Gyatso

Tenzin Kunsang was born in the Himalayan region of Yolmo in Nepal. He grew up in Kathmandu where he went to a high school ran by the Tibetan government in exile. Kunsang has completed B.A. in painting from Hunter College, CUNY. For the most part, he has been engaged with abstract paintings but recently taken to photography as well. His art practice is primarily informed by his identity as an immigrant in the United States, and his complex background of being from an ethically-tibetan group that is culturally Tibetan Buddhists but exists within the political structure of Nepal.
